Just Hanging Out

You can't accuse this baby of being a grump, can ya? He's happy like this all the time. The only time his mood falters is when he's hungry or tired. We really are amazingly blessed, aren't we?

In front of the White House with Juan

We visited the White House at night. It's pretty interesting. You can't go in it anymore so we just looked, snapped a couple of pictures and went to eat dinner. Ian wasn't that interested in the White House anyway.

Luckily Juan, Ian's godfather, had to attend the same conference as Marcelo. He's always fun to be with. Ian loves him and Marcelo and I love having a third set of hands at meal time in restuarants.

More From DC

More from Washington D.C.
Mas de la capital.
These pictures were all taken in front of the WW II memorial and you can see the Lincoln Memorial in the background. Marcelo is a history buff and he really loves to watch extremely boring documentaries about WW II on the History Chanel (which we don't have so I am spared until we visit my parents and he acts like a kid in a candy store). Seeing the memorial makes it real for anyone, even me who doesn't like to watch all those documentaries. It was really overwhelming in a tragically, beautiful way.

What a backdrop, no? And there's no way the picture could really show how beautiful it was to look at Ian with this sky behind him.

What a place for lunch!

An Asian lady walked up to us after Ian finished his bottle and touched him on the cheek and then took his picture. I've taken tons of pictures of beautiful Mayan bebes in Guatemala but there moms always hold out a little hand and ask for "UnQuetzal". I had an urge to do the same, "one quarter please." but I let it go.

Trip to the Capital

Marcelo had a conference in DC at the end of September so we decided to take the opportunity to have a less than full price vacation. Marcelo and I really didn’t think we’d get to do too much with Ian being so little and being such a sleeper but we were wrong. He did great. We did as much as we wanted to and Ian had a great time too. He was happy being in the stroller alternating with the sling and didn’t have too much trouble sleeping while we were out. Marcelo and I came home exhausted but we’re really happy we got to visit DC. One of the best things about DC is that while it’s expensive to stay and eat there you don’t have to pay to get into any of the museums, or I should say you don’t have to pay at the door since we already paid in taxes. That made it nice to be able to go in say “this is boring” and not feel like we were wasting money to leave.

Ian's first subway ride.
El primer viaje en subte del gordo.

This facial expression seems to soooo Marcelo. I've seen pictures of him when he was a kid with the same look on his face. I'd love to say it's a happy face but I think it's safe to say it's an annoyed with his wife face. I can't imagine why that could be!

Of course we had to take a picture of the gordo in front of the Capital.

We encoutered such beautiful weather and not too many people. It really was a beautiful day and a great experience to visit all these monuments and they really are monumental. We will plan to take Ian back when he's older.

Mr. Cute Stuff

When Ian was about two days old Marcelo started really taking picture, after picture, after picture of him just hanging out, which means sleeping (since of course that was all he did at two days old). Like all dads, he still likes to take picture, after picture, after picture of Ian just hanging out.

More from our weekend in Tennessee

More pictures from Tennessee

Mas fotos del Tennessee.

Cousin Elo's birthday visit

We went to Tennessee for Eleanor's second birthday. Gipson went with us as well and Ian had such a good time with all the attention from his cousins, aunt, uncle, Abby and Papa.
